To Do
Value Scales:
- 2 Scratchboard (hatching and stippling), 1 Pastel (shading).
Sample Images:
- Each image recreated in both scratchboard and pastel.
Sketchbook:
- Analysis focusing on technique and effect of each media and image type.
STIPPLING
The Objective of this assignment was to learn how to control value by taking away black by stippling (stippling can also be referred to as pointillism). To complete this assignment we needed a scratchboard (6 x 9), scratch tools, and a pencil. The scratchboard itself is a black clay based board that creates white lines when scratched. This process can be broken down into three steps:
1. Take your final image on the piece of paper and place it over top of the scratchboard
2. With a pencil trace over main lines
3. Once you have your image transferred onto the scratchboard you are now ready to stipple the surface
Scratchboard Assignment was by far the most difficult Unit this year.
PASTEL
In this unit, Value Drawings, we learned to create the illusion of space in a 3-D image, to create the feeling of a particular mood and learned how to use chalk pastels in the creation of artwork. The room for error was very minimal, which meant taking time to plan your drawing was very crucial.
1. Make points on the pastel paper in relation to your image
2. Connect the points
3. Fill & Shade
